State of the District

As another wonderful school year comes to a close, I want to thank our entire community for working together to achieve the ambitious goals we set at the start of the year. The State of the District video highlights our year and reflects what we have accomplished together.

This year brought so much to celebrate across our district. Our colleagues at MCMS and OVHS  earned school-wide recognition, shining a bright light on OPUSD. OPHS received a great mid-cycle visit report in recognition of their hard work toward WASC goals. With bittersweet hearts, we say goodbye to an exceptional group of teachers and staff retiring this year. After decades of stellar teaching and supporting our students, they are embarking on a well-deserved retirement. They leave a lasting impact, and though they will be hugely missed in our hallways and our hearts, we honor their amazing careers. Our students also earned awards in countywide and statewide academic and athletic competitions and proudly showcased their talents in art, music, and theater. None of these achievements would be possible without you!

Although we had our district-wide Wildfire Prevention and Response protocols in place, we were grateful not to have to use them when the Sandy Fire struck during the final days of school. Your resilience and flexibility did not go unnoticed. We were proud of all the efforts that went into carrying out end-of-year activities for students and to end the year strong.
