Bond Measure S

On November 8, 2016, voters in the Oak Park Unified School District graciously approved Bond Measure S, authorizing the issuance of up to $60,000,000 in general obligation bonds. Measure S was designed to improve student safety and campus security, repair and upgrade aging classrooms and school facilities, and modernize classrooms, facilities, equipment, and instructional technology to support student achievement across all academic areas. The measure includes strong accountability provisions, including independent citizen oversight, annual audits, and a requirement that all funds remain local.

Background and Meeting Information

The Measure S Planning Committee supports the implementation of Bond Measure S by providing input and recommendations on project priorities. The committee reviews proposed projects to ensure alignment with the voter-approved purposes of the bond and assists in identifying scope and timing considerations before projects are brought forward for Board consideration. Through this process, the committee supports transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of bond funds in support of student safety, facility improvements, and student achievement.

The Oak Park Unified School District Bond Program Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) is enacted by a California law requiring oversight of public school bonds. The CBOC is charged with reviewing the spending of Bond funds and reporting their findings to the general public. The Board of Education appoints committee members representing various interests to two-year terms. Meetings are open to the general public. Meeting agendas and minutes are posted on this website. The CBOC is required to follow the Brown Act.

The agenda for the next regular or committee meeting will be posted 72 hours before the meeting is scheduled to occur. Agendas for special meetings are posted at least 24 hours in advance.
