AB 2534 & SB 848

Effective January 1, 2026, SB 848 expands California’s requirements for school employers to disclose records related to egregious misconduct of former employees. The law extends existing requirements under AB 2534, which apply to certificated employees, to include classified employees.

School districts and other educational employers must request and review this information when considering applicants for employment.

Oak Park Unified School District processes all AB 2534 and SB 848 employment verification requests in accordance with California law.
